Hi, my name is Greg Ford and Sutherland Shire Photography is my business and my passion.
My life is photography, and it shows in the directions my photography interests have taken me.
I recently retired from shooting professionally, after enjoying photographing a number of subjects in my photographic journey including Weddings, Portraiture, Sport, Commercial & Industrial photography. I have also held 25 exhibitions, and been teaching for ten years in my own photography school. I photographed with Canon for 25 years, but recently changed to Fuji X-Pro2 mirrorless cameras.
I run 30 hour Photographic Courses split into 6 theory lessons and 4 hands-on Workshops, every term. I also hold advanced courses in photographic techniques an composition.
There are 3 x Understanding Digital Photography Courses offered in 3rd Term, 2016
Monday night course (18th July – 12th September, 2016)
Tuesday night course (19th July – 13th September, 2016)
Thursday night course (21st July – 15th September, 2016)
For further info go to menu line/Classes/Introductory Course
My teaching caters for beginners through to keen photographers wanting to break into the photographic industry.
Private Lessons are also available, catering for small groups of one to three people.
Digital photography is about creating an image from a digital negative. This is where my four person, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Develop Module lessons, that run for 3½ h, will teach you how to develop enhancement skills to get the most out of your images.
My passion and hobby is photography, and my community group, ‘Shire Amateur Photographers’ Society’ has evolved from the interest of over 1,500 students participating in my classes over the past 10 years. This group is made up of passionate hobbyists that enjoy the social relaxed atmosphere of the Society. The Society’s aim is to ‘Learn from each other, rather than Competing against each other’…
The Society has monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month on the first floor ‘Club on East’ (previously Sutherland United Services Club – SUS Club) opposite the car park – western side of Sutherland Station. There is also a well-lit car park at the rear of the club. Just drive up to the boom gate on the ground floor, tell them you’re there for the Photographic meeting, and they will open it for you. Meeting starts at 7pm start on 1st floor. Just sign in at the club’s reception, and tell them you are there for the Photographic meeting. Meetings are well attended, with usually over 100 people attending.
Society activities include Night & Day Photographic Mystery Tours, outings on a Sunday morning usually two weeks after our meetings, as well as organised Trips Away each year. In 2015 there was 4 x 28 day trips to Africa, as well as two High Country Road Trips through N.S.W. & Victoria.

Another passion I have is promoting and co-ordinating African Photo Safaris throughout Australia.
Sutherland Shire Photography is the sole Australian agent for ‘Arne Muller Photo Safaris’ based in Mossel Bay, South Africa. During 2015 we co-ordinated 63 people from Australia in four trips, to travel between Cape Town and Victoria Falls.
