Shire Amateur Photographers’ Society

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have been required to suspend our monthly Society Meeting at the Club-on-East, Sutherland
until it becomes safe to resume.
So, we are running alternative Zoom Webinar Meetings every Friday night (7 pm), for anybody who would like to join us.
For further details on joining in at these Meetings, contact Greg on 0415 412 244

The Shire Amateur Photographers’ Society (SAPS) is a great Sutherland Shire based, unified community group of keen amateur photographers, that come together to enjoy their hobby in a relaxed social environment.

Fifteen years ago I established the Shire Amateur Photographers’ Society, as a community group, to motivate keen amateur photographers, from in and outside the Sutherland Shire.  We enjoy a variety of activities including Meetings, Photographic Tasks, Presentations, Photographic Outings and Trips Away.

My passion has always been photography, like many others, and in establishing the Society, I wanted to establish a photographic group for hobbyists, without underlying competitive components.

The Society is unique in relation to other camera groups, in that its underlying aim is to ‘Learn from each other, not compete against each other’.  Meetings often attract 100 keen photographers, both amateur and some professional, from the Shire and beyond, to learn about, experience, and develop a better understanding of their hobby, while providing an opportunity to socialize with other like-minded people.

We have a Flickr page for monthly Tasks to be displayed.  Here Society Member images can be viewed in the Task Albums

You can join the Society Flickr group (S.A.P.S.) which is restricted to Society members only.  This allows other Society members to view and comment on your latest images.

There is also a Society Facebook group (SAPS) if you wish to share your images not only with others in the Society, but in a more public space.

You only need to participate in what interests you, even if it is only the occasional email to say hi.  There is no commitment to attend every meeting or outing, just come when you have the time, or if a topic for the month interests you, or you have a Sunday morning free and our outing destination is of interest.

Membership for a calendar year is $30, it costs $5 to attend a meeting.

Hope to hear from you, or see you at a meeting or outing in the near future.

Have some questions, give me a ring (Greg – 0415 412 244), or you can go to my Contact Page of my website and request further information.
