Shire Amateur Photographers’ Society (SAPS) is a great Sutherland Shire based, community group of keen amateur photographers, that enjoy their hobby in a relaxed social environment.

Eighteen years ago I established the Shire Amateur Photographers’ Society as a community group, to motivate keen amateur photographers.

We enjoy a variety of activities including Meetings, Photographic Tasks, Presentations and Photographic Outings.

Our underlying aim is to ‘Learn from each other, not Compete against each other’.  Meetings often can attract 70 keen photographers, both amateur and some professional, to learn about, and develop a better understanding of their hobby, while providing an opportunity to socialize with other like-minded people.

You can join the Society Flickr group (S.A.P.S.) which is restricted to Society members only.  This allows other Society members to view and comment on your latest images.

There is also a Society Facebook group (SAPS) if you wish to share your images not only with others in the Society, but in a more public space.

You only need to participate in what interests you, even if it is only the occasional email to say hi.  There is no commitment to attend every meeting or outing, just come when you have the time, or if a topic for the month interests you, or you have a Sunday morning free and our outing destination is of interest.

Membership for a calendar year is $30, and $5 to attend a Society Meeting at Tradies (Gymea).
